First-class sedimentation and filtration, all along the drainage
Maximum retention, maximum sedimentation: With BIRCOprime® evo, BIRCO introduces a rainwater treatment system that cleans the water while it flows off. First, the particle sedimentation takes place invisibly directly inside the drainage channel system. This is because sedimentation in BIRCOprime® takes place via a weir system that is integrated into the channel
– without any chemical or biological treatment at all. Immediately afterwards, the system also filters out non-sedimentable pollutants, which ensures thorough purification.

- Compact rainwater treatment system in channel form
- Sedimentation chambers with overflow weirs (designed as „1“ shape) effectively retain solids. Only minimal remobilisation even during heavy rainfall events
- The rainwater that has been freed of solids is channelled through the filter granulate. Adsorption and precipitation remove dissolved organic and inorganic pollutants from the water
- Solids (AFS 63) and particulate-bound pollutants are removed
- Retention of light liquids (oils, petrol, etc.)
- The purified water can now be used as process water, discharged into flowing waters or infiltrated into the ground
- Quick installation, factory assembly and installation to EN1433 Type I standard

How it works:
- The water is channelled over rising weirs.
- In the process, sediments settle between the weir elements in the sedimentation chambers and are effectively retained.
- Absorption and ion exchange filter out non-sedimentable substances.
- Maintenance is only necessary every 5 years (depending on the surface to be cleaned) and is very easy to carry out.
Decentralised treatment
The rainwater is channelled through the gratings into the rainwater treatment system and cleaned.
Semi-centralised treatment
The collected rainwater is channelled into the rainwater treatment system and cleaned.
Vertical outlet
The cleaned rainwater is discharged vertically via a pipe.

BIRCOprime® evo cleans rainwater and removes the following substances:
- Filterable substances (up to AFS63)
- Tyre abrasion
- Microplastics
- Mineral oil hydrocarbons (MKW)
- Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs)
- Heavy metals (e.g. zinc, copper)
