BIRCO is a new family member of the Swiss MÜLLER-STEINAG Group
The MÜLLER-STEINAG Group, based in Rickenbach in the Swiss canton of Lucerne, is the new strategic partner of drainage specialist BIRCO from Baden-Baden, Germany. BIRCO GmbH will be taken over in its entirety, including its subsidiaries and all locations, and integrated into the family-owned company. The transaction, which does not require any further official approvals, is to be completed before the end of the year.
Thus, from now on, two specialists for the material concrete will bundle their professional know-how in order to pursue a joint, sustainable strategy. BIRCO will remain completely self-sufficient in the future and continue to exist as an experienced, strong brand. As two family-owned companies established in the market, it is of particular importance to BIRCO and MÜLLER-STEINAG to retain familiar contact partners and build long-term customer relationships.
Frank Wagner, Managing Director of BIRCO: "BIRCO is the entrepreneurial life's work of three generations, which is why I have chosen the successor very conscientiously. I have found an outstanding strategic partner in the MÜLLER-STEINAG Group. We are very similar in our DNA, and both attach great importance to preserving the regional identity and strength of BIRCO and its employees. Accordingly, both locations in Baden-Baden and in Sinzheim with their 160 employees will be retained. After all, it is the employees who make up the quality of BIRCO. My colleague of many years, Christian Merkel, will continue to lead BIRCO as Chairman of the Management Board in Baden-Baden. I myself will still be working for BIRCO in an advisory capacity for a certain time."
The MÜLLER-STEINAG Group currently employs around 1150 people. Like BIRCO, the owner-managed, independent and autonomous Swiss family business was founded in 1927. The now diversified group is active in the fields of concrete products, natural building materials, recycling, waste disposal and hydraulic engineering, as well as a number of other business areas. The MÜLLER-STEINAG Group also includes CREABETON, BIRCO's exclusive distribution partner in Switzerland for many years.

There are no changes for the partners on the market. BIRCO remains the usual reliable partner with the highest quality standards in every aspect of the cooperation. BIRCO is currently realising the largest investment in the company's history with over EUR 6 million. With the construction of a state-of-the-art mixing plant and additional infrastructure measures, the production site in Baden-Baden is being further expanded as part of the company's strategic development. Logistics will continue to be handled by the logistics centre in Sinzheim. The sales company in France will also continue unchanged. In addition, numerous joint future projects are already being planned.
